AEW Star Claims The Company Has Outdid WWE Multiple Times

Ever since AEW launched in 2019, many professional wrestling fans have had great fun talking about how it would compete with WWE.

Tony Khan’s company and WWE will face off this week on November 17th on Collision and SmackDown.

Powerhouse Hobbs contends that Tony Khan’s company has already achieved this goal, saying: “We’re on the same level as them. We’re their competition.” ICE’s Chillin’ said in an interview.

Hobbs has also discussed the possibility of success in WWE, but he has high regard for AEW and is not considering such a move.

He explained: “When people ask me if I want to go to WWE, I tell them we deserve it.”

Powerhouse Hobbs went on to say that AEW “sometimes” beats WWE in viewership, which means AEW has a stranglehold on WWE.

“They’re on national TV, and we’re on national TV. We go head-to-head, we’re right on them. We’ve beaten them in ratings at times.

We’re right there on their neck. There are two major companies in this business — it’s WWE and AEW.”

AEW holds the record for the highest attendance for an all-in pro wrestling event. This number has been recently debated.

The merger of WWE and UFC, as well as the lucrative television deals for WWE SmackDown and WWE NXT, suggest that there may still be a gap between the two companies in terms of overall positioning.

AEW’s new programming deal, which will likely continue with Warner Bros Discovery, is expected to be signed in the coming months.
Compare that to what WWE has already secured, especially wirh WWE Raw still happening.
