Chelsea continue on their quest to try and secure European football for next season when Guus Hiddink’s side host West Brom on Wednesday evening at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have appeared to have turned their season around following the arrival of the Dutchman in December, and the champions are now unbeaten in five matches, which includes a 2-0 FA Cup third-round victory over Scunthorpe United on Sunday.

Despite the team’s improved form, though, Hiddink admitted finishing in the top four this term will prove too much for the Premier League holders although the Blues coach said he remained optimistic by the number of young players knocking on the door for a regular start.

One of those players is Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who scored his first-ever goal for his boyhood club on Sunday, and the midfielder could be brought on against West Brom with Nemanja Matic unavailable following a training-ground injury at the weekend.
