Current Status Of Matt Cardona’s WWE Return

Matt Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder in WWE, shared his thoughts on not being brought back to WWE despite the company rehiring other stars.

Cardona had a successful career in WWE, winning titles such as the United States Championship and the Intercontinental Championship.

However, he was released in April 2020 and began a successful journey in the independent wrestling scene.

In an interview with Chris Van Vleet on Insight, Cardona expressed surprise that he was not contacted by WWE when other wrestlers returned.

He stated that he actively wrestled on the independent circuit and found success, also winning titles such as the NWA World Heavyweight Championship and the GCW World Championship.

Cardona said he felt ignored when several wrestlers who weren’t as active in the ring were brought back by WWE.

“I mean, I’ll be honest when all those people got rehired, I was thinking, not me? The guy who has been doing everything?

What was the prerequisite to getting re-signed, not doing anything? Besides like Chelsea and like The Good Brothers, and a handful of others, most people didn’t do anything.

But that’s fine. Everyone has a different path, a different story. Do you have a chip on my shoulder about that? I wouldn’t say a chip, like a little crumb.

But listen, this isn’t about proving people wrong. It’s about proving myself right. My fans right.

If I can convert some doubters and get some new fans along the way, so be it. But I can’t have this goal of being the absolute best with like negativity driving it, if that makes sense,”

Despite his own feelings, Cardona emphasized that his motivation to succeed in wrestling is not driven by negative thoughts or proving people wrong.

Instead, he is focused on proving himself and his fans right while pursuing his goals in his industry.

Cardona also stated that it took a lot of convincing to sign exclusively with a wrestling company, indicating that he values his independence and diverse wrestling experience.
