Jerry Lawler and Donald TrumpSome WWE fans were apparently not happy with Jerry “The King” Lawler for attending Donald Trump’s rally. Lawler  said he wasn’t there to drum support for Trump in a political capacity.

As previously noted on the site, Lawler was got a good seat behind Trump during the speech and it looked like they made eye contact to acknowledge each other.

However, Lawler says he wasn’t necessarily there to support Trump in a political capacity. Lawler told TMZ Sports, “We were asked by some people to go to the rally, and I went and unbelievably received from some social media some actual hate mail just for going to the rally of Donald Trump.”

He added, “But, I want to tell everybody. I wasn’t going there to see the President. I was going to see a fellow WWE Hall of Famer. That’s all.”

Trump is a long-time friend of the McMahon family and was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2013. Vince McMahon’s wife Linda currently serves as the Administrator of the Small Business Administration in the Trump Administration.
