Nikki Bella On Being Raped Twice By A Friend When Kathy Got A Divorce

Before Nikki Bella and Brie Bella launched their book , Brie asked Nikki if she wanted to call and warn Kathy before the book came out, to which Nikki said, ‘Maybe I’ll put it in her mailbox… with two bottles of wine.’

During a video call, Nikki dropped hints to her mom, telling her that there were two stories in the book she’d only ever shared with a few people.In a confessional, she was more explicit about what those were. ‘I was raped twice when I was younger,’ Nikki said, her gaze never wavering from the camera.

In the book, she explained that she had been assaulted by a friend on a hotel floor when she was 15, and that it was her first time having sex. She also recalled the time she was ‘roofied’ by a stranger months later, knocked unconscious, and raped again.

‘At the time, my parents were going through a divorce, and my immediate thought was, ”Mom, she’s going through so much, too”,’ Nikki explained. ‘How do I burden her?’ ‘We all feel like if we hide something so deep down that it’s just gonna go away, but it doesn’t,’ she reflected. ‘I felt like if I never spoke of it again, it didn’t happen, but it did.’

Nikki Bella told her mother she’d been raped as a teenager Thursday on the season six premiere of Total Bellas. The 36-year-old WWE superstar had hidden the secret for 20 years, not wanting to relive the trauma or upset her mom, Kathy Laurinaitis, 56, who’d been going through a divorce at the time.

With the release of Incomparable, her memoir with twin sister Brie, it was inevitable that she’d have to have a conversation she’d long put off. Both sisters were six months pregnant, and had been having a blast talking about babies and what kind of mothers they would be. Nikki had her son Matteo in August, and Brie followed 22 hours later with her own son, Buddy.
