Bret Hart and Vince McMahon actWWE’s 2019 Hall of Fame ceremony will be remembered by many for an incident involving Bret Hart and a crazed fan. The Hitman was making his speech when someone jumped the barriers, crashed the ring and tackled Hart to the ground. Vince McMahon has reacted to the whole incident especially as it touches Bret Hart receiving several punches from WWE stars.

A number of wrestlers piled in to help defend the Hall of Famer and security quickly pulled the ‘fan’ away.

But before they could do so, footage shows him taking several punches from WWE stars and one of those involved in the fracas was Cash Wheeler (known at the time as Dash Wilder).

He and his tag team partner Dax Harwood were released by WWE in April and both men made an appearance on Jim Cornette’s podcast last week.

They discussed a range of topics, including Vince McMahon’s reaction to the Hall of Fame incident.

Wheeler revealed that he was called in for a meeting with the boss and had to show him footage of the attack, to prove his actions were justified.

Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart's rivalry

“I did have a meeting with Vince McMahon and I did have to show him the video from multiple angles so he could see that the guy wasn’t restrained,” Wheeler said, per WrestlingNews.

“There were no cuffs, no cops, no security, just the boys, and a mentally unstable guy whose hands are not being restrained at all.

“He’s still threatening everybody like ‘let me go, let me go’… we just did what we had to do to neutralise the situation.

“As soon as [Vince] saw the video and I told him kind of like what the guy had been saying, everything changed.”

Cash added that McMahon wasn’t mad with his actions and after seeing the video, believed they were justified.

“He wasn’t mad to begin with, he was just worried.

“Once he saw the video, he was like, ‘that’s completely justified, that’s self-defence, you guys had to do what you had to do in a blink of an eye to make sure no one else got hurt.'”

After discussing the incident, Cornette joked that even saving a WWE Hall of Famer wasn’t enough to earn The Revival a push.

Perhaps the company should have been more appreciative of Wheeler’s actions that night.
