Charlotte Flair’s dream was never to be a professional wrestler. But now that she’s the face of the women’s division, she can’t imagine walking away.

Speaking to FOX 26 in Fresno, Charlotte discussed not wanting to follow in the footsteps of her dad, Ric Flair.

“Some people wanted to do this their whole life. I grew up in it, but I didn’t want to do it,” said Charlotte. “When you grow up having your father (Ric Flair) being one of the greatest of all-time, you just don’t see yourself in that light. I also didn’t see myself as a Diva. Six years ago, it was my little brother’s (Reid Flair) dream to be a WWE superstar. He passed away and now I’m continuing his dream. Every day when I walk through that curtain, I’m doing it for my brother. That’s my motivation.”

Charlotte signed with WWE in 2012. In her six years with the company, she’s won the Divas/Women’s Title seven-times. She’s also a former NXT Women’s Champion and the only female to hold all four women’s titles.

When asked if she would remain in the business after she retires, Flair said, “I think I will always be part of this industry. Once you get that bug, it’s hard to walk away. When my dad retired in 2008, I was like, ‘Why can’t you just hang up the boots? Why are you having such a hard time?’ Here I am in 2018, not knowing this was going to be my destiny, and I’m like, ‘I don’t know if I could ever walk away.’ Whether it’s coaching or producing, I’ll always been in the business.”

Charlotte failed in her attempt to become an eight-time champion this past Sunday at WWE TLC, losing to Asuka in the first-ever Women’s Tables, Ladders and Chairs bout.
