Randy Orton’s Current Contract Situation After 18-Months Hiatus

Randy Orton returned to WWE at Survivor Series, but there are many questions about his future after his current contract expires. It looks like The Viper will be staying with WWE for a while.

The world of professional wrestling is full of attractive contract situations. We already mentioned that Alexa Bliss and Chris Jericho are also in attendance. Ricochet is also likely to get a big contract in 2024.

Sean Sapp pointed out from behind the Fightful paywall that WWE is pretty confident that Randy Orton will sign a new contract when his current contract expires. However, there was no mention of him signing a new contract.

“Orton publicly teased free agency for the first time in 2019, before signing a new five-year contract with WWE at a time when the company mass-signed a ton of talent to long-term deals.

However, one WWE higher up said that they “would be surprised,” if WWE did not end up extending his current deal.”

Randy Orton was out of action for a year and a half before returning to the ring at WWE Survivor Series, but this could keep him in WWE even longer.

As for Randy Orton’s contract status, he has about a year left on his contract, which was originally scheduled to be extended until at least the fall of 2024.

However, after nearly 18 months out of WWE, insiders have suggested that “injury period” could be added to Orton’s contract, potentially keeping him in WWE until 2026.

Although Some bosses have predicted this outcome, it remains a probability, pending confirmation.

It’s worth noting that there have been cases of injured WWE talent whose contracts were not renewed because they were involved in other roles or projects.

However, the situation does not appear to be the same in Orton’s case, although further evaluation is needed before a final decision can be made.
