Ronda Rousey said Friday that she won’t return to WWE on a full-time basis due, in part, to the way some fans treated her.

During an appearance on the Wild Ride with Steve-O podcast (h/t Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin), Rousey said she would rather spend time with her family than performing for “f–king ungrateful” fans (Warning: Some language NSFW):

“What am I doing it for if I’m not being able to spend my time and my energy on my family but instead spending my time and energy on a bunch of f*cking ungrateful fans that don’t even appreciate me?” – Ronda Rousey said

Rousey noted that while she enjoyed performing in WWE, the travel schedule took a significant toll on her:

“I love the WWE. I had such a great time. I love all the girls in the locker room. Running out there and having fake fights for fun is just the best thing. I love choreography. I love acting. I love theater. Live theater and some of the last forms of live theater. But, I was doing basically part-time and I was away from home 200 days out of the year. And when I did get home, I was so sleep deprived cause you just don’t have time to lay down.”

Rousey made a name for herself as the first-ever UFC women’s bantamweight champion. In UFC, Rousey was able to remain close to home while training most of the year and only fought a couple of times per year.

During her WWE run, Rousey worked most Raws and pay-per-views, as well as some house shows. She also held the Raw Women’s Championship for 232 days, which was the longest reign in the history of the title until Lynch broke it.

Rousey was dominant during her WWE tenure and had several memorable matches against the likes of Lynch, Flair, Sasha Banks, Natalya, Nia Jax, Alexa Bliss and others.

While some fans seemingly turned on her because of her penchant for winning almost all of her matches, she still had a loyal following.

The mixed crowd reaction actually aided in Rousey turning heel leading up to WrestleMania 35, which is a role she played well.

Rousey suggested after WrestleMania 35 that she was taking time away to start a family with her husband—former UFC heavyweight Travis Browne.

When rumors swirled that Rousey was potentially leaving WWE for good, a WWE spokesperson told TMZ Sports that Rousey is under contract with the company until April 10, 2021, so a return is still possible.

If Rousey does return to WWE at some point, it sounds as though her schedule may resemble another former UFC star in Brock Lesnar rather than a full-time roster member.
