DEPUTY President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu has once more expressed dissatisfaction over the arrest of National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh. He stated that the Federal Government has not been fair enough to the opposition party and their intention to track down their leaders is quite obnoxious and distasteful.

According to Ekweremadu, the continued detention Chief Olisa Metuh is taking the face that the FG is trying to suppress the mouthpiece of the opposition which should not be. Hence, he urged the federal government to be careful and possibly retract from further practices as that is what Democracy is all about.

In a statement signed yesterday by his Special Adviser, Media, Uche Anichukwu, Senator Ekweremadu, two things were noted:
1. All Progressives Congress, APC led government is policing the PDP which he considered a total disrespect for the rule of law in the semblance of anti-corruption war.

2. “An anti-graft trap that catches only members of the opposition and those with axe to grind with the government of the day is compromised,” Ekweremadu said

Additionally, he stated that,” the continued detention of the PDP mouthpiece was an attempt to gag the opposition and therefore unhealthy for democracy.”

Worthy to note is that on Tuesday the EFCC invited Olisa Metuh for cross-examination and probing and he has remained in their custody since then.
