The US Title Tournament on SmackDown didn’t go as planned. Rey Mysterio couldn’t finish the game, and it was a huge disappointment for those who wanted to see him brawl against Santos Escobar.

We now have an update on Mysterio’s injury status. During this week’s WWE SmackDown, they replayed the Rey Mysterio vs Santos Escobar match.

This includes some slow motion footage of this dive outside of Santos Escobar’s WWE Hall of Fame.

Michael Cole said Rey Mysterio was whipped during this match on SmackDown last week.

He wasn’t at Dayton for SmackDown this week and his status will be “day in and day out”. Mysterio faces Escobar in a match to determine who will win the US Title against Theory on August 11.

Escobar hit the header just before the commercial break and when they returned from the break they continued to show.

Mysterio had actually been knocked out on a cross body block a few minutes earlier. If you watch the replay, you can see him stunned for a second and Escobar trying to hold back.

But he returned to the game and they continued the game. Then, as they were about to take a commercial break, Escobar bumped into Mysterio and his head hit the ground hard and he was knocked down a second time.

So because of this, there was a hasty decision to stop the game for precautionary measures.

He got up after walking around the ring and shaking hands with Escobar and didn’t needed any assistance to get back stage.
