Update On William Regal Year-Long Clause

Published

on

William Regal has transitioned from his role as the leader of AEW’s Blackpool Combat Club to a leadership role in WWE.

This change came at a time when Regal’s long-time friend Triple H assumed a position of great influence in WWE.

This paved the way for Regal to return to WWE, but he never made the jump to television.

William Regal is currently WWE’s Vice President of Global Talent Development. However, when he left AEW, a one-year clause was put in place that prevented him from appearing on WWE television.

This explains his absence from the Wargames announcement, despite his new role.

As William Regal’s one-year term comes to an end, hopes are mounting that he may return to television.

Despite this, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter states that there are currently no known plans for Regal to appear on television.

Regal’s non-compete as far as appearing on television is just about over.

At the time Regal left he said that he wasn’t going to be appearing on television. He hasn’t worked for NXT, and they have Michaels as an authority figure, who while not as good at the job as Regal, is a far bigger name.

They just hired Aldis for that role on SmackDown, and wouldn’t have done so if they planned to put Regal in that spot.

I could see a cameo but as far as a regular TV role, it would have to be as an authority figure or manager”

For now, we’ll have to wait and see what the future holds for William Regal.

Although he seems to be enjoying his new position in WWE, fans haven’t seen him on TV.

After WWE hired Nick Aldis to take over the role of SmackDown authority figure, it looks like Regal won’t be taking that spot Again.
