He may face the court for illegality.
A suit was filed earlier today in a Federal Court by two screenwriters. The suit seeks two hundred million dollars compensation for the writers’ copyright work.
Reports from the Los Angeles Times say the screenwriters are suing Dwayne Johnson, Mark Wahlberg, and HBO (the plaintiffs) for copyright theft, over their serial show titled “Off Season”. Off Season was created in 2007 by Everette Silas and Sherri Littleton.
Another report from Yahoo News on the same subject says, Ballers, “borrows heavily” from Off Season, certain aesthetic elements, including, without limitation, physical appearance of the characters and their vehicles, and plots, scenes, as well as story lines.” The Ballers is an HBO series production.
Off Season failed in 2009 when the screenwriters were denied a ‘created by’ credit. The suit was first filed in 2015 December. And HBO said, “We are confident the case has no merit.”Silas and Littleton want the credit they deserve, on which the show sadly fell apart when they were refused a “created by” credit in 2009.
