WWE Legends’ Obsession With Hulk Hogan’s Success Led to His Downfall: “I Have Lost My Whole Life and I Feel I Deserve What He Has” In 1991, The Ultimate Warrior’s nine-year marriage to Shari Tyree ended. But things got even worse for him as he lost the WWF Championship.

Leading up to the 1991 SummerSlam PPV, The Ultimate Warrior wrote a letter to Vince McMahon demanding the same pay as Hulk Hogan. He mentioned that if Vince and WWE do not meet his demands, he will refuse to show up.

During the episode, Shari revealed, “He [The Ultimate Warrior] had decided in his mind that he wanted everything that Hulk had. He wanted the same money, the same merchandising, he wanted it all. So, he’s like, ‘I am going to give Vince this letter and if he fires me, he fires me.’” “I was like, ‘You can’t do this. You can’t hold up TV’. And he’s like, ‘I have lost my whole life and I feel I deserve what he has,’” she added.

After receiving the letter, it is reported Vince got infuriated, but he wanted the match at SummerSlam 1991 to happen at all costs. Though Vince temporarily agreed to The Warrior’s demand at first, he refused to follow it following The Ultimate Warrior’s match at SummerSlam 1991 and fired him. The Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan teamed up together in a handicap match at SummerSlam 1991.

During the episode, Jake “The Snake” Roberts revealed Vince stopped The Warrior as he came out of the ring and told him he was fired. Mr. McMahon also sent The Warrior a letter. He mentioned The Warrior has become a legend in his own mind. This incident is one of the most talked-about incidents in the history of WWE.
