WWE Superstars Gets New Identities

It’s no secret that WWE has changed the names of various talents over the years.

Two WWE stars have gotten new names following their recent return to SmackDown’s main roster.

Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo returned to the SmackDown roster after their December 22 appearance, joining Santos Escobar and helping him advance to the United States Title Tournament. Naturally, fans wondered if their name was still there.

They initially kept their names the same after their return, but after the January 5th show, it was revealed that Los Rosarios’ teammates had lost their last names in WWE graphics, and are now called “Angel & Humberto.”

WWE has officially confirmed the name change, updating Angel Garza’s profile to “Angel” and Humberto Carrillo’s profile to “Humberto” on their website.

Historically, wrestlers’ names were often shortened or changed under Vince McMahon’s administration.

While some pro wrestlers, like Austin Theory, were able to get their names back with Triple H taking over creative direction, recent changes to Angel and Humberto shows that name shortening isn’t just a McMahon-era thing.
