There was a scene in this match where Escobar pulled on Lee’s mask, but that wasn’t talked on beforehand.

Speaking with Freddie Prinze Jr. on the Wrestling with Freddy podcast, Santos Escobar said the audience understood the meaning of the mask before revealing that the spot featuring Dragon Lee was unscripted.

The world of Lucha Libre that Santos Escobar and Dragon Lee hail from includes far more mask taint than American audiences are accustomed to.

Masks keep breaking at big games, which only adds to the drama. Apparently Escobar and Lee wanted one more good performance at Survivor Series.

Chicago fans were rooting for Survivor Series all night long. The night ended with the big return of CM Punk, but included many other notable events.
