Dudley D-Von Seeks To End His In-Ring Retirement
You never know what can happen in the world of professional wrestling, especially when it comes to retirement.
A professional wrestler can retire multiple times during their career, and D-Von Dudley send to be the latest to have done so.
The former WWE Tag Team Champion has announced his return to professional wrestling.
Dave Meltzer, in today’s Wrestling Observer/F4W Update, reported that WWE Hall of Famer D-Von Dudley made the revelation during an autograph signing in Monroe, Mich.
During this appearance, D-Von said that his return to the Impact 1000 tapimgs was not a one-time event and that he intended to retire.
“I’ve had some health issues and I think that’s one of the biggest things for me.
Because of the fact that I had the stroke in 2020 and I almost didn’t make it, I wouldn’t be here right now if it wasn’t for my wife, who I love dearly, and who really, you know, saw that I was having a stroke.”
“The stroke is a very silent killer, and to go through that, and to be able to only have 25% on my left side, and then had to go to rehab, you know,
two or three different rehabs to rebuild that up, and then my personal trainer really helping me to get back to where I was, and then all of a sudden,
only six to seven months later, to now go through back surgery, you know, I had L4, L5, and S1 pretty much fused with titanium bolts and everything.
So to go through all of that within a short period of time within each other, and now all of a sudden having the opportunity toget back with Bubba,
and to be on the 1,000th episode of Impact, and to relive the glory that we once had, I think it’s great.
I’m really looking forward to this and see how much I’ve got left.”
Additionally, he expressed his desire to sign with Impact Wrestling.
The announcement comes as a surprise, especially in light of D-Von’s recent serious health issues.
He previously shared on Busted Open Radio last month that he almost didn’t survive a severe stroke in 2020.
This is a surprise since D-Von Dudley appears to have retired for good.
He reunited with Bully Ray at the Impact 1000 show, and that may have been enough for the wrestling bug to bite D-Von again.
We’ll be following this story to see if and when D-Von gets the table back.
He might just want to come back for a longer run and Impact Wrestling might be happy to have him.
