WWE Censors The Rock’s SmackDown Promo

Published

on

The Rock’s return to WWE SmackDown for a one-night stand attracted a lot of attention from fans.

It was an incredible performance and the segment was a quite long but also a bit censored.

The Rock has had many moments with a young fan in the ring and he had always excited millions and millions of fans with his appearances.

That being said, some of the promos were a little too campy for TV.

During this promo, The Rock had fans in Denver chanting “you’re an asshole” at Austin Theory. This was widely censored by FOX and there’s a reason for that.

Sean Sapp notes behind Fightful’s paywall that these fan rants were changed due to the FCC and that it has nothing to do with the TV-PG rating.

“For those asking about the heavy edits to The Rock’s promo on Friday,

it was because of possible FCC violations as opposed to anything “TV-PG” related.

There is nothing connected to TV-PG that actually prevents foul language. It is not enforced like MPAA for movies, and ESRB for video games.”

They actually have to censor the fans’ chants because they want to avoid violations.

The Rock Blown Away By Fans Reaction To His SmackDown Return

We’ll have to see when The Rock returns to WWE. There would have been discussion about holding a meeting in the future to discuss creative options.

He obviously still has the ability to draw a crowd, which was evident this week on SmackDown.
