Independent Wrestler Under Fire For Insulting Eddie Guerrero

The wrong kind of heat. Wrestlers have a complicated job to do when they go out to the ring. Not only are they supposed to have an entertaining and captivating match, but they also have to give the fans a reason to care about them, either positively or negatively.

This can be harder than it sound as wrestling fans have seen a lot of things before. One wrestler tried to do something to get a reaction from a crowd and it did not go well.

Fifteen years ago this week, Eddie Guerrero passed away from heart failure at thirty eight years old. This was a devastating moment for the wrestling industry as Guerrero was one of the most talented and beloved wrestlers of his generations and was near the top of WWE to boot.

Guerrero’s legacy has only grown since his passing, but someone tried to use it in a not so popular way.

Over the weekend, independent wrestler Alex Ocean faced Akira at a the ICW No Holds Barred event.

During the match, Ocean used Guerrero’s Three Amigos rolling suplexes. Following the move, Ocean shouted “F*** EDDIE GUERRERO” to the fans in attendance.

Fans did not react well to this and went after Ocean on Twitter.

As a result, Ocean has since apologized on Twitter as well, saying that he made the statement in the heat of the moment and promised to be better in the future.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that was always going to go badly and I can’t say I’m surprised by any of the reaction that Ocean received.

I understand the concept of getting heat but there is such a thing as the wrong kind of heat, which is what happened here.

If this is a one off event then it isn’t going to make much of a difference, but it is easy to see why people reacted so harshly as a result.
