WWE has officially announced a worldwide Cruiserweight series, that which many people never saw coming but ultimately wanted; the first ever which is meant to establish who is the world’s best cruiserweight.

Below is the official statement by WWE:

“For the first time ever, WWE invites cruiserweights from all over the world to compete in the inaugural Global Cruiserweight Series. Thirty-two of the greatest in-ring competitors under 205 lbs. will descend upon Full Sail University in Orlando and collide over 10 weeks to earn the right to call themselves the best cruiserweight in the world.”

While you are about wondering what nature the show would take and how Triple H would come in, the Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events & Creative for WWE has firmly said that the whole thing is totally out of his province – that he would be watching it as a fan and not the one calling the shots.

He additionally stated that, the entire card which contains the names of the participants would be a mixture of known indy wrestlers and NXT talents and would be uploaded for all to see via the official website of the company as well as through the various social media outlets.

One more point of attention was on the visibility of the cruiserweight title returning to WWE TV: on that, Triple H didn’t make any definite assertion but left the possibility that anything could happen.

“… I think..I want this to be something that is repetitive. I would like this tournament to be a recurring thing where we take the best talent from around the world and let them do their thing,” he said.
