The reigns of WWE and TNA Superstar Stone Cold Steve Austin has abruptly come to an end. Painful it may seem but that’s it! The general opinion hanging on the lips of a lot of wrestling fans is that WWE actually downplayed their chance to bring Austin back at a time when it mattered the most especially at the time when CM Punk was the hottest wrestler in the company’s diary.

As CM Punk fades off, Stone Cold’s potential for a return match also followed suit. Austin’s wrestling career is one characterized by injuries which keep him off actions time and again. While a good fraction of people voted for Austin’s return, WWE stands firmly against it.

According to Ringside News, the WWE’s website said that Stone Cold Steve Austin is retired.

“One of the notable mentions in the piece was “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, which listed his last match at WrestleMania 19 against The Rock. At the time the match was not his retirement match, however it has turned out to be Austin’s final match.”
“It’s been documented over the past several years that Austin would consider a one-time return to the ring, but it has not materialized.”

Five months ago, Stone Cold said in an interview that his WWE career was over, that he was done with professional wrestling for real. He noted that although fans want him to do one more match probably with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32 that’s unlikely and so far that’s just a wish. Then he nailed it stating that he’s got no reason to do a comeback again and the match he had with The Rock at WrestleMania 19 was his very last.

“I think I’ve left everything I’ve got in the ring. There’s no reason to go back in the ring and prove anything. I had to ride off into the sunset a little bit earlier than I’d have liked. But that final match I had at WrestleMania [19] with The Rock was my last match.”
