Cody Rhodes Speaks On The Issue Of Taking Over Dusty Rhodes’ In NXT

Cody Rhodes returns to WWE after many years away from the company. Upon his return, American Nightmare skipped NXT and went straight to the main roster, where he belonged. It turns out he once said he would never set foot in the Performance Center.

At the press conference following WWE Fastlane, Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso introduced themselves as the new undisputed tag team champions.

They were in good spirits, and then Cody Rhodes was asked a serious question about whether he would ever take over for his late father, Dusty Rhodes, as coach at the Performance Center or not.

“When I came back, and you can ask my manager this, I said I would never step foot in the WWE Performance Center, because,

it’s not my dislike of the Performance Center, it’s because he’s everywhere in there, and I, that’s hard, right?

And then I ended up in the Performance Center a month later to do medical, or something, okay, so I went back on that.”

“I just want to go, I have a specific announcement that I want to bring. I’m excited to see Shawn Michaels and what he’s done.”

“I don’t think [running the WWE Performance Center] is in the cards for me, but here’s the thing.

I have somehow told you guys a bazillion things, and somehow ended up in that exact spot. So, I don’t know.

Dusty taught communication, he taught promos, but he called it communication. No one really filled that spot after he left, I always thought that someone like Mick Foley would learn that spot.”

Cody Rhodes said he was a little scared to show up but he wanted to go to NXT for the October 10 episode.

That being said, he doesn’t see himself taking over his father’s shoes at the WWE Performance Center.

Cody Rhodes is still continuing his story and only time will tell how things end for him.

He may take back his words and one day find himself working at the WWE Performance Center, but it could be a long road ahead for American Nightmare.
