The Ultimate Warrior in WCW was probably considered a missed opportunity for the company in 1998. Ultimate Warrior, whose name still commandeered fan excitement, debuted to start a feud with Hulk Hogan, which ultimately ended in disaster.

On his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff answered questions about working with Warrior in 1998, and how he came into WCW. Bischoff maintained that although The Ultimate Warrior was out there, he was passionate about it. Even more so, Hulk Hogan did warm to the idea.

Eric Bischoff said that the business at the time was very different and “shark infested.” Bischoff explained that something Hulk Hogan said helped decide how the Warrior situation was approached.

“Hulk was like, look, the guy is a head case, he’s tough to manage, he’s creatively hard to handle but I think there’s money there.”

Fans had speculated that Hogan’s only reason to feud with Ultimate Warrior in WCW was to “get his win” back. Still, in the end, the feud went nowhere, with their match at Halloween Havoc critically panned and being a total disappointment.

The two wrestling giants had a fierce long-time rivalry and Hogan said he took a ride on a golf cart at the Hall of Fame years ago — just before Warrior’s death — and claimed the two settled their feud.

“I went right up to him, I shook his hand and said, ‘Brother, I know I’m not supposed to talk to you, but I just want to let you know I love you,’” Hogan told ESPN.

“‘And if you ever want to be friends I’d love to be friends with you. If we could ever do business that would be great. But I just want to tell you that I love you so much. And whatever I did … please forgive me.’

“And then I noticed that there was a WWE camera that peeled around the side. I had no idea that they had a camera following him.

“So that was real, bro. And I’m so glad I got to talk to him.”

But Mrs. Warrior suggested Hogan would not have had the conversation with her husband had the cameras not been there. Dana Warrior released a statement asking Hogan, aka Terry Bollea, to refrain from making comments about The Ultimate Warrior, who died of a heart attack in April aged 54.

Hulk Hogan vs Ultimate Warrior

Hulk Hogan was one of the biggest draws the business has ever seen, but McMahon thought his time was up

I’ve been really quiet since the passing of my husband and the father of my girls.

Someone sent me what Mr Terry Eugene Bollea (best known as Hulk Hogan) had to say in a recent video interview with ESPN and I would just like to ask him to stop.

He is the only person in the WWE Universe who did not give a call or send a card. My girls asked why he didn’t check on us like everyone else and I explained simply there isn’t a camera at our mailbox or in the house when we receive our calls.

I would ask respectfully Mr Bollea (Hulk Hogan), for you to understand my girls hurt and just let some time pass before you say anything more.
