ANGELINA Jolie’s cover story in the latest issue of Vogue covers all the bases: her famous family, humanitarian work and why she hates French country.
The 40-year-old also talks in detail about the upcoming film By The Sea, which she wrote, directed and starred in alongside her husband Brad Pitt.
Ten years after meeting on Mr & Mrs Smith, where they played husband and wife assassins hired to kill each other, they’re back on the screen as a married couple battling personal issue. But relax. As we found out, it’s not about them.

1. She knows she’s not perfect:

“The director was very focused. The actress was unstable. And the writer was deeply confused,” she joked about writing, directing and starring in By The Sea.

2. Even she thinks her ideas suck sometimes:

For years, she and Brad dubbed By the Sea “‘the crazy one’. We even called it ‘the worst idea’ … As artists we wanted something that took us out of our comfort zones. Just being raw actors. It’s not the safest idea. But life is short.’”

3. She knows people will read too much into By the Sea:

“It’s not autobiographical … Brad and I have our issues but if the characters’ were even remotely close to our problems we couldn’t have made the film.”

4. She actually sees her kids:

“I schedule individual time with each of the kids like a crazy person. I know what I’m doing with my boys tonight … play board games all night.”

5. But she’s also figured out how to get time away from them:

“Recently, Jolie Pitt says, she was working with her voice coach for Maleficent in an office in her house. ‘I closed the door. One kid came in and another came in and there was a fight outside the door.’ A few weeks later, Brad was using the office, ‘so I did my voice lessons in the centre of the house in full view on the kitchen table. And nobody bothered me. Not one interruption.’ She laughs a long time on the phone. ‘It was very clear to me that if they can see you and hear you and you’re right in the room, they actually give you a certain space.’

6. Brad’s a totally babe but like all partner’s he can totally be annoying:
“Everybody knows there is never just the tragedy of life, or the humour of life or pure joy of life. Relationships have those extremes. You can absolutely madly love the same person you want to kill.”
