RVD Drops Stephanie McMahon WWE Romance Bombshell

WWE Hall of Fame’s Rob Van Dam has revealed that he was uncomfortable falling in love with Stephanie McMahon at the time. The latest episode of Rob Van Dam’s podcast, titled “1 Of A Kind”, revolves around Van Dam’s former colleague and current WWE Content Director, Paul Triple H.

It is noted that in the episode the discussion mentioned the aborted romance between RVD and Stephanie McMahon in 2001. Van Dam previously revealed that he campaigned to drop the angle because of his real-life relationship at the time, and now the former ECW star has expanded on the situation.

“I understood what was going on and I was not comfortable,” Van Dam said. According to Van Dam, the main reason was because he knew it would make his girlfriend jealous at the time and it wasn’t something he wanted to deal with at home.

“So I said, ‘ Man, you know, I just want to wrestle. I don’t want to get involved in stories like this,'” Van Dam continued. “I can’t remember who I spoke to first about it. I remember talking to Stephanie, and I was really upset. … I remember Stephanie trying to make me feel comfortable with her. that, and she said, predictably, ‘It’s like we’re just actors and you only play one role.'”

Despite all efforts, McMahon’s comments weren’t enough to convince Van Dam, and the former WWE champion recalled talking to producer Bruce Prichard about the script after speaking with McMahon.

“I remember. talked to Bruce Prichard about it,” RVD said. “God, I was very new back then… [I was still] trying to figure out the command system. … Bruce was like, ‘I’m so glad we had this conversation. If you don’t tell me you’re uncomfortable with certain things, how will I know? …I thought everything was going well, didn’t it?”

Van Dam added that he returned to TV the next day, read the script and saw that they planned to deepen the romantic angle. After getting upset and expressing that he wanted to slap Prichard, Van Dam said that Paul Heyman could have calmed him down. , he sat down with members of WWE’s creative team, possibly including Prichard.
They worked out a compromise together, bringing Chris Jericho into the script to join McMahon and seems to keep everyone moving forward in a good way
