WWE Allegedly Tried To Steal A UFC Top Name

Published

WWE and UFC are now under one roof, owned by Endeavor along with TKO Group. Although they work together today, there was a time when the competition between the two companies was fierce.

Joe Silva is a central figure in the UFC, serving as the organization’s liaison.

He plays an important role in organizing matches and competitions, helping shape the UFC’s roster and matches.

Silva has been recognized for his contributions to the sport of mixed martial arts, particularly as a matchmaker for the UFC. WWE realizes this and they want it.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer recounted an old story that had never been reported.

It seems like WWE tried to steal Joe Silva away from UFC at a time when UFC and WWE were actually competing in the same market in the early 2010s.

“It’s funny, because I don’t think I’ve ever reported the fact that WWE came after Joe Silva.”

“I don’t know the answer as to what the motivation was. I don’t think it was for creative,

though, I think it was executive, administrative or something. I know the whole story, I’m gonna say early 2010s, it wasn’t late 2010s.”

“Oh, UFC had already established themselves and Joe Silva had already won booker of the year awards when this happened. Yes, it was, and UFC was riding high.”

WWE tried to make things work without Joe Silva, and the story unfolded as we see it today.

It’s interesting to know that WWE made this type of big play years ago and it just shows that they know exactly who to pick from an organization to take advantage of and possibly cripple the competition.

The merger of WWE and UFC is now complete, so we’ll have to see how it benefits both companies from now on since they’re no longer in fierce competition with each other.
