When the 50-year old WWE Hall of Famer is staging war against the likes of Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Kurt Angle, or The Undertaker, you wouldn’t want to have another match on your screen — you have the best of the matches that night.

However, he retired in a way that brought tears streaming down the cheeks of some fans, and that was a match against The Deadman in 2010.

The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels did several out-of-this-world WrestleMania shows time and time again and in one very encounter, particularly at WrestleMania 26, Michaels said he would retire if The Undertaker win the match; he put his career on the line in the match against Taker’s streak and somehow, he lost the match and that was the end. He made his official retirement and the game was over; he has never done a single match since that very day he officially retired.

Nonetheless, on the latest Woooo! Nation Podcast with Ric Flair, Chris Jericho was on air as a guest when Flair brought up the issue about Shawn Michaels’ return. Flair noted that he learnt about Shawn Michaels’s persuasion to return for Royal Rumble and possibly WrestleMania 32. He said:

“They want him so bad for Royal Rumble, but he ain’t budging from that ranch down there in Texas.”

Obviously, WWE CEO Vince McMahon offered Shawn a nice bit of money to come in, but he turned them down. WWE has been wanting him to come back several times over the years. Michaels has declined each time.

However, we can not run it out entirely; he may eventually make it to either or both the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania events although the chances are very slim owing to his age and his other commitments.
