John Cena has finally responded to the reports on his retirement as well as his issue with Vince McMahon. Cena clarified the air while speaking with The New York Times recently that he has no intention of quitting his professional wrestling career for acting. He noted that he has reached a compromise with his boss and that what he does in respect to acting is for the ultimate benefit of WWE. He said, “I have a very good mutual understanding with my boss that I don’t ever want to leave; I really like it in the ring. I try to pick opportunities that don’t take me away from WWE for too long. I try to do opportunities that can really help expand our audience and bring new eyes to our product.”

Lately fans were beginning to speculate that Cena was on his way out of WWE just like The Rock did. About 10 years ago, invitations from the Hollywood industry came knocking on The Rock’s door and he welcomed their offers. However, he made efforts to combine both acting and wrestling together but that was like self-affliction. So he relinquished WWE for acting.

Hence, the question is not out of context when fans asked, “Is Cena bidding us goodbye? Is he giving up wrestling for acting?” Cena was speaking about two weeks ago in another interview and he made notes on the terms for his career to come to an end. He said, “I’ve always sworn to myself that if I can’t keep up with the current level athletically, it’s my time to take another role, whether that’s commentating on the matches or stepping behind the curtain and molding younger talent.”

So we may not expect Cena to stay in wrestling till the age of The Undertaker as that would fall against the promise he made to himself. If he sees himself as unfit or losing the ingredients of the strongest man, then it’s time for him to step out and do something else. Whatever!
