John Cena’s To Return In DCU

Published

John Cena’s role as the Peacemaker has certainly won him over with fans. So much so that it now has its own spin-off series Peacemaker.

Peacemaker has enabled the expansion of the DC Extended Universe into HBO Max’s storytelling. An effort was created and primarily led by James Gunn.

Now it looks like Cena will reprise his role in James Gunn’s revamped DCU. The HBO Max series is a sequel to Suicide Squad.

It follows protagonist John Cena as he participates in another operation for A.R.G.U.S. to find parasitic alien creatures called butterflies.

Thanks to its action scenes, the performances of its cast, including Cena, Danielle Brooks and Freddie Stroma, and Gunn’s exceptional writing and humor, Peacemaker received critical acclaim from critics such as The Suicide Squad.

HBO Max has quickly approved Season 2 of Peacemaker, with Gunn returning to write and direct all-new episodes, the number of which has yet to be revealed.

James Gunn confirmed on Threads that John Cena will be a part of the future of the DCU as he will reprise his role as the Peacemaker.

Xolo Maridueña will reprise his role as Blue Beetle in the DCU, as will Viola Davis as Amanda Waller and John Cena as the Peacemaker.

That said, a second season is unlikely to happen anytime soon.

We’ll have to wait and see when filming on the highly anticipated second season of DC’s hit live-action series will begin.
