WWE Employees Nervous Over Incoming Layoffs

WWE and UFC merged to form a new company, but TKO Holdings Group is not getting off to the best possible start inside the corporate offices.

Today, employees have been asked to work from home as mass layoffs are expected. This is exactly what happened. Wrestling news plus previously reported that Jamie Horowitz had been released from WWE.

He previously served as executive vice president of development and digital. WWE also fired chief marketing officer Catherine Newman from her position today.

Amanda Bloom also joined the fired list later. PW Insider reports that today marks a difficult and expected day for WWE employees, as rumors spread within the company that a significant percentage of employees could face layoff.

“Everyone we’ve spoken to is pretty much on pins and needles waiting to see if they receive word they need to jump on a Zoom call with the company,

realizing that if they receive one, their time with the company has to be done.

The fact everyone was separated has added to the sense of unease as well according to a few we’ve spoken with.”

The exact number of employees affected is yet to be confirmed, adding to the uncertainty.

Company members nervously awaits announcements to join Zoom calls, knowing that such contact could mean the end of their tenure.

For weeks, employees have been preparing for this new reality and today it is becoming a harsh reality.

Today’s actions are largely focused on streamlining the workforce by eliminating redundant positions as the UFC and WWE offices merge.

Many believe the cuts will not affect the WWE roster, production team, on-air talent or individuals closely associated with the talent, such as producers and trainers.

UFC and WWE are expected to keep their media rights deals separate, so they’ll have to keep some people close, but this is still a very sad day for WWE.

So far, we haven’t heard of any major cuts to UFC offices.
