The Vaudevillains are former NXT Tag team Champions

In view to determine the No.1 competitors for WWE Tag team championship Shane McMahon kick started a tournament which he announced three weeks ago on RAW held by the New Day.
Vaudevillains and the team of Enzo and Cass were the remaining two teams left.

Concerning the performance of Vaudevillains at their previous match of the tournament which was not so impressive to backstage officials and apparent failure to carry the fans along was an issue for the chairman Vince McMahon which kept him unhappy with the Vaudevillains and believed their throwback gimmick of Gotch and English was a “Stupid” one.

Vince McMahon lamented on their inability to focus and creatively develop a gimmick for a real wrestler and that gimmick fails on the roster of WWE which includes Tyler Breeze, The Ascension, Bo Dallas, Adam Rose exclaiming that the earlier NXT talents failed despondently to connect with the fans of WWE’s main roster.
The Vaudevillains were only called back because of their long stay in NXT and due to their Payback match ending in no contest which is worth considering them for the title or not.
