WWE stars John Cena and Nikki Bella have announced they have broken up.

“While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another,” Nikki Bella said in a statement posted on Twitter.

“We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives.”

The professional wrestlers got engaged in April 2017 and were due to get married on 5 May. John Cena and Nikki Bella are two of WWE’s most celebrated superstars. Both are former champions and have also given fans a glimpse of their lives outside the ring with their own reality TV show, Total Bellas.

He proposed at the end of a live ”Couples Match’ at last year’s Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando, Florida. The split has come as a shock to many wrestling fans, especially as the pair had been pictured out together just days ago.

John Cena has also carved out a successful career as an actor and stars in Blockers alongside Leslie Mann and Ike Barinholtz. Since news of their split, John Cena has posted on Instagram with the caption, “Worst Day Ever”.

He also told fans, “We all have good and bad days. No-one is perfect, but if you happen to do something to make someone feel bad, TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY for your actions, APOLOGIZE, and ASK FORGIVENESS”.

Naturally, wrestling fans haven’t taken the news well.

While that is still ringing and Cena has made several shocking notes lately as regards their wedding vis-à-vis Nikki having kids, worthy to note is that there are parts of Nikki that is just unfolding into the eye of the general public which could be the main reason why Cena has been reluctant on pulling the trigger of marriage with her all this while.

The longest reigning WWE Divas Champion Nikki Bella has been ups and downs relationships issues just as most Superstars and she recently noted that she was formally married; yes she is a divorcee.

Nikki Bella has been married once before, yes, Nikki Bella is a divorcee at least according to Total Divas, the E! reality show starring WWE personalities. As per the report on that particular episode of the show, Nikki Bella revealed to her family that she married her high school sweetheart in Las Vegas at the age of 20 but kept the wedding a secret from everyone. She also kept their divorce a secret; the two were divorced three years after the wedding took place.

Of course, the marriage wasn’t quite as romantic as it sounds; Nikki related that the marriage was a disaster, so they eventually had it annulled.

“Even when I started to walk down the aisle, I knew, ‘This was a huge mistake, how can I get out of this,’ but I couldn’t,” Nikki Bella said on Total Divas. “I tried to forget about it…”Nikki later said
